Feinberg E-Collection Questions
This FAQ contains a list of the most frequently asked questions and answers for problems related to the Feinberg E-Collection. Please review the list of questions first before contacting us for help. Thank you.
Question: I have logged on to the collection with my library barcode and password and I receive the one of the following messages when connecting to one of the databases: (The file name may be different in your case – but you get the same message box)


Answer: In order to use the collection, you need to download and install the Citrix client. Please follow our instructions in the document titled "How to connect to the Feinberg E-Collection" for further details.
Question: I have been using your collection at home and I have not had any issues. I am having trouble connecting to your collection from my office computer. I downloaded the client, installed it, but I am still getting a message ".ica file not found" or "Windows Cannot open this file: …."
Answer: In order to use the collection, you need to download and install the client with administrative rights to your local machine. Please speak to your IT administrator to gain proper access to your local machine to be able to install programs.
Question: I attempted to access one of the databases in the Feinberg E-Collection. The Citrix box appeared and said "Looking up application." Then I received an error message that said, "Cannot connect to the Citrix MetaFrame server. Protocol driver error." What should I do?
Answer:This issue is usually being caused by a firewall. If you are trying to access the collection from work when you receive this error, you need to speak with your IT staff and ask them to open incoming TCP port 1494 to the following addresses: 216.146.78.101 and 216.146.78.110. For home users, you will need to configure your personal firewall to allow incoming TCP port 1494 for 216.146.78.101 and 216.146.78.110.
Question: I have been using your collection for some time without any issues. Unfortunately, I have been unable to connect lately. I am receiving a funny error message, ".ICA file not found." What should I do?
Answer: This issue can be solved by cleaning out the Temporary Internet Files. Please see the document titled "How to clean out the Temporary Internet Files" for further instruction.
