Spertus Faculty
Michael Fagen
Michael Fagen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health and Physical Education at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU), where he teaches courses in health education and program planning and evaluation. Dr. Fagen also directs the NEIU HIV Prevention Project, which trains faculty members to infuse HIV prevention modules into their courses. Currently, Dr. Fagen is on leave from NEIU as a fellow in the Illinois Public Health Research Program, located at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health. In this fellowship, Dr. Fagen writes grant proposals and academic papers in his primary research area—school-based health promotion.
In addition to his academic work, Dr. Fagen provides program planning and evaluation consultation to a variety of nonprofit and educational groups, including the Illinois Center for Violence Prevention and Positive Action, Inc. Dr. Fagen’s consultation focuses on the use of program models and evaluation data for making strategic decisions about program and agency improvement. Dr. Fagen is also a Board member with the Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health.
