While many of Chicago’s Jewish modernists identified strongly with the working class and leftist ideologies, Morris Topchevsky was known as the most outspoken and politically radical of the group. He was a member of the Communist Party USA and organized fellow Chicago artists to compile a volume of prints in response to the horrors perpetrated by Franco during the Spanish Civil War.
