Emil Armin and his fellow Jewish artists maintained few religious observances, but strongly identified socially and culturally as Jews. They exchanged Jewish New Year cards, gathered at artists’ studios on Friday nights, and exhibited with the Jewish arts club Around The Palette. Many were also associated with the Jewish People’s Institute (forerunner of Chicago’s JCCs), where they taught, studied, and exhibited their work.
