This 4-session mini-course explored how Judaism accords with post-modern perspectives, considering topics including social influences on the individual, tensions between internal experience and external observance, and the creativity involved in being commanded.

Ideas of God in Jewish Discourse

Through the study of primary and secondary sources, this course followed the development of the God of Israel in Jewish discourse and charts five historical and conceptual milestones in its evolution: Biblical, Rabbinic, Medieval, Pre-Modern and, finally, the post-Holocaust era.
