Complete Spertus Institute’s Professional Leadership Program

On December 10, 2017, Jewish communal professionals from across North America participated in an inspiring graduation ceremony at Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership. Seventeen graduates were presented the distinguished Master of Arts in Jewish Professional Studies. Among those receiving degrees were five (pictured here) who completed the program as part of a special executive cohort of professionals who have been working in the Jewish world for twelve years or more. They are (left to right) Cindy Sher, Executive Editor, JUF News, Chicago; Gilon Rubanenko, Chief Operating Officer, Mandel Jewish Community Center, Beachwood, Ohio; Marna Goldwin, Director of Advancement, Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School, Chicago; Katie Rich, Director of Admissions and Community Engagement, Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School, Chicago; and Michael Soberman, Senior Educational Consultant, The iCenter for Israel Education, Toronto and Chicago.

Chicago community members Amy Berger, Development Manager, Working in the Schools (WITS); Matthew Charney, Jewish Life Coordinator, DePaul University; Max Dayan, Former Director of Development, NCSY; and David Schwartz, Director of Family Education and Programming, Anshe Sholom B'nai Israel Congregation, also received their degrees.

These graduates have all grown personally and professionally, cultivated critical skills, and gained insight into how to meet constituent needs. Furthermore, a professional mentorship is a key component of the program, giving each participant the opportunity to gauge goals and learn from acknowledged leaders in their field.

New cohorts of the program begin in 2018, with fellowship funds available for those who apply before March 26, 2018. Information is available at spertus.edu/MAJPS
