Planning for reentry: A message for Spertus students

A Message for
Spertus Students

As we consider how we will learn in the next academic year, we want to share our process, values, and timeline

Throughout this past year, we have been continually impressed by your resilience, flexibility, and commitment to learning and community. You—our community of learners—are the heart of Spertus.

As we look ahead and consider how we will gather to learn in the next academic year, we want to share with you our process, values, considerations, and timeline. We are primarily concerned with your health and safety, while maintaining our deep commitment to providing you with an excellent educational experience. Both of these values will guide our decisions as we prepare to reopen and welcome you (back) to Spertus Institute.

As we prepare to reopen our facility, we have created task forces to study best practices and provide recommendations in core areas, from how we handle the safety of our students when we recommence in-person learning to making contingency plans for changing circumstances. We are developing protocols based on CDC guidelines and through ongoing conversations with communal leaders, academic institutions, and those who run intensive, cohort-driven programs like ours. We understand that our students live throughout North America (and sometimes beyond) and are incorporating regional realities into our decision making.

Though we would prefer to welcome everyone back to communal multi-cohort seminars, we expect that we will not be able to initially gather exactly as we did before the pandemic. What we do know with certainty is our unwavering commitment to you, our students, and to providing the best educational experience possible while keeping students, faculty, and staff healthy.

We will keep you updated throughout the process and expect to have plans for the October seminar by mid-summer. As we move, step by step, out of the pandemic, we would love to hear from you. Please feel free to be in touch with us to share your thoughts.
