Spertus Institute Welcomes New Trustees
Blair Klein and Dr. Don Kleinmuntz

Spertus Institute is thrilled to welcome two accomplished local leaders to its Board of Trustees: Blair Klein and Dr. Don Kleinmuntz.

Blair Klein is an award-winning marketing and communications professional with more than twenty years in the field. Most recently, Klein was Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications for Medline Industries. She has worked as an agency and corporate executive for both small and large companies. Among them, she spent fourteen years at AT&T, where she launched the company’s social media marketing.

Outside of work, Klein volunteers for the Inner-City Education Program, a Chicago initiative that provides educational and sports opportunities for low-income young people in underserved communities. She also serves as Vice President of the Skokie Valley Skating Club and is a delegate to the US Figure Skating Governing Council.

Klein earned her BA from Tufts University in Massachusetts. She lives in suburban Chicago with her husband Josh, three children who are readying to leave the nest, and her dog DJ.

Dr. Don Kleinmuntz is Principal at Kleinmuntz Associates, where he is an Analytics, Data Science, and Technology Advisor as well as an Investor.

In 1996, Kleinmuntz and his wife, Dr. Catherine Kleinmuntz, founded Strata Decision Technology, which today is a leading financial performance platform for the healthcare industry. He filled executive positions with the company for 17 years, leaving when the company had more than 100 employees and its software was used in a third of large hospitals in the United States. Since 2018, the couple has run the Kleinmuntz Family Foundation, which promotes developments in education, healthcare, and the arts by enhancing nonprofit effectiveness and performance.

Kleinmuntz received a PhD in decision research and statistics from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. With over three decades of university experience, he has held faculty positions at University of Texas at Austin, MIT, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Southern California, and University of Notre Dame, where he was the founding Academic Director of their Chicago-based MS program in business analytics.

Kleinmuntz and his wife now live in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood with their twin first-graders and Molly, a Wheaten Terrier.
